What is TOPIK?
TOPIK (also known as the Test of Proficiency in Korean/한국어능력시험/韓國語能力試驗) is a Korean language proficiency test organized by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) in South Korea.
The TOPIK Korean language exam is a written test designed to assess the Korean language comprehension and expression abilities of overseas Koreans or non-native speakers of Korean.
The first TOPIK exam was organized by the Korean Institute of Education in 1997, with 2,274 participants. In its early years, the TOPIK exam was held only once a year. However, over time, the number of test-takers has significantly increased. This may be why NIIED increased the frequency of the exam to six times per year.
To date, the total number of TOPIK test-takers has surpassed 1 million.
TOPIK Exam Schedule 2024
As for the TOPIK exam schedule, in 2024, there will be five TOPIK exams in Vietnam, held in April, May, July, October, and November in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Da Nang, and Hue.
